The award winning Black Eyed Peas have returned after a four year break. Their last CD, “Monkey Business” was released in 2005. Their latest CD “The E.N.D.” standing for “The Energy Never Dies” was released on July 3r.
This is B.E.P.’s fifth CD release. The cover includes a picture that can be confusing at first. Group member Will. I. Am writes “This is the face of digital energy! This is what we look like when Fergie, Apl, Taboo, and Will. I. Am combined digitally. We are one in this image. This is The E.N.D!!!!”
The album includes such hits as “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow”. “I Gotta Feeling” has already been at the top of the charts for 19 weeks. If they stay afloat for one more week, The Black Eyed Peas will top Usher’s 2004 records for “Yeah!” and “Burn!”
Although the song has gotten mixed reviews, recieving titles ranging everywhere from The Stupidest Song Ever and The Best, listeners can’t help but get into the music and break into a dance. The song is fairly repetitive, repeating the title words over and over, and informing everyone that tonight’s gonna be a good night.
The other songs on the CD that are not commonly heard on the radio are mostly about love and romance and some songs seem to play it, save, with again repetitive beats and rhythms.
In most of their songs the band doesn’t even seem to be singing, but simply talking to the music. Although one song, titled “Missing You”, does show off Fergie’s vocal range. With high ranges and powerful soul, she shows she is a great singer in this song, unlike some of her band mates.
Every album has a song that is extremely annoying to some people. For this one it is “Imma Be”. The background throughout most of the song is the same, monotone “Imma be”. It gets so irritating that the skip button just has to be pressed.
Overall the music on the CD is enjoyable for going out with friends, dancing, and partying, or even listening to in the car. However, when it comes right down to it, the songs aren’t very creative. Listen to it while cleaning or having a party, but don’t listen to it if only songs that have meaning are worth while.
