Tyler Perry’s latest film sends his audience deeper into his gifted mind to bring laughs and a good substance story to life. I Can Do Bad All By Myself is the first of Perry’s recently released films featuring his beloved stock character Madea without her name in the title. This film reintroduces the audience to Taraji P. Henson as an academy award winner. This film is a step above Perry’s previous films. Adam Rodriguez comes back to the silver screen in this film as a Latino Handyman named Sandino.

Henson plays the role of April, a drunken self-centered club singer living a less than fulfilling life. She ends up taking care of her niece and nephews who then break into Madea’s house after their grandmother goes missing.

Throughout this film the audience feels a major build up to the much anticipated but shocking end. A love story slowly starts to form toward the end of this movie that could be predicted from the very beginning. As in all Tyler Perry’s movies he underlines the importance of love, family, and living life the best you can. He also instills his religious feel that leads his characters to their happiness.

This movie wouldn’t be anything but a compelling inspirational love story without the hilarious domineer of Madea. I Can Do Bad All By Myself brings in an array of talent while keeping out the drag cliche feeling of Hollywood. This film brings in musical talent and good screenwriting material to make this film resonate with the audience.

Perry’s film is a good movie to see and would be a good addition to any DVD collection when it comes out. This isn’t a film to rush out and see but is a good movie to watch if you want to go to the theatre and see a good movie to end the night with.

    …Actually, I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but you’re wrong…

“Diary of a Mad Black Woman” was a Tyler Perry movie. It’s a few years old. It featured Madea. It didn’t have her name in the title.

    Sorry!
