The biggest and most anticipated video game release of the year didn’t let anyone down. The game sold over seven million copies in the first day of release and had over 2.6 million preorders. The developer Infinity Ward also produced the 2007 game of the year, Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
The campaign, as said earlier, is controversial and has been talked about across the news. The first levels are amazing and it connects back with characters from the original Modern Warfare. Some have said the campaign is short, but after playing it for ten hours what do you expect. The campaign is enjoyable and has many fun things about it that are unexpected.
The campaign was clearly written with action in mind. Each level takes the player to one exotic location after another. The level in Siberia has the player using stealth tactics through a snowstorm to evade enemy guards. The player climbs up a mountain only to be chased down while driving a snowmobile. And that was just the first level.
The newest mode is Spec Ops. Fans of the old Nazi Zombies from World at War will be happy to see it. There are 23 different modes that have all kinds of tasks for up to two players. There are tasks ranging from crossing an enemy filled bridge to snowmobile racing. This mode gives players a change of pace from the constant online killing or the methodical campaign.
This great mode has so much content packed in to it that Infinity Ward probably could have shipped it out as it’s own game. Players can track the amount of stars attained online and compare scores from all over the world. A highlight of Spec. Ops. mode was a level titled “Big Brother” which had one player operating a turret mounted inside of a helicopter defending their partner who would try and make their way through heavy opposition.
