If the hit Television show hasn’t hooked you yet, the CD version of the first season will. Glee-the Music Season One, was released this November and is compiled of twenty songs performed on the TV show, which airs on Fox.
True to it’s name, Glee- the Music, is a joy to listen to. The CD is filled with uplifting songs like “Don’t Stop Believin’”, “Taking Chances”, and “Defying Gravity”, with new singers and a new twist, using a Broadway-style way of singing. Dedicated watchers of the episodes are sure to remember the memorable moments of the glee club singing the familiar songs featured on the CD.
Although the vocalists sing popular songs from famous artists, the talented cast from the addictive TV show are comparable matches for the famous originals, including highly recognizable artists such as Celine Dion and Neil Diamond. Many songs like “Bust Your Windows” sung by Amber Riley and “Keep Holding On” deserve recognition for their great showcasing of the artists voices, just to name a few.
Because of the different ranges of vocals, differing from Riley’s low, soulful voice and Lea Michele’s higher pitched one , the CD provides a wide range of genres of music, from R&B, to classics and pop. Familiar songs like “Sweet Caroline” and “Don’t Stop Believin’” scatter throughout the disc, while more recent songs on the CD include “Gold Digger”, “Take a Bow”, and “No Air”, brilliantly sung by actors from the show. Because of the diversity of the CD, it is great for all listeners of every age in need of inspiration or simply something new.
The songs aren’t all serious though; many are great for dancing, like “Bust a Move” and “Dancing with Myself”, which are perfect for partying to. Viewers will remember the moments in the episodes where the soloists have fun grooving with friends and students at their high school.
Even for those who haven’t seen the show, the CD is still a great buy.
Although the CD is great in almost all aspects, some high school students may find the songs annoying or, as many would like to say, “cheesy”. For those who enjoy less family oriented, inspirational songs, this CD may not be suitable.
Despite this, the record is quite enjoyable and would make anyone smile with the melodic voices and elevating song choices of the cast. As if the CD isn’t impressive enough, the TV version shows on Wednesdays at 8 P.M. on Fox, and won’t disappoint.
