‘When in Rome’ is a Romance/Comedy about a woman named Beth (Kirsten Bell) who is unlucky with love. She is a busy New Yorker who is completely in love with her job and she doesn’t generally open up to people. Her sister gets married in Rome and Beth goes to the wedding where she meets the grooms friend, Nick (Josh Duhamel). Beth thought they hit it off, and she ends up standing in the fountain of love. Beth takes coins from the fountain of love and things start to get strange. When she gets back to New York, she runs into these men that claim to be in love with her, but she doesn’t know them. She finds out that they love her because she took their coins out of the fountain of love. When Nick finds Beth in New York City, she has to figure out if he really loves her or if he is just one of the guys under her spell.
This movie is charming and although it is a Romance movie, ‘When in Rome’ is still funny. It is a move that the whole family could enjoy. There are parts that the adults will enjoy and there are parts that kids will like too.
‘When in Rome’ was a good movie, but even the best movies have their downfalls. There were some scenes that were pointless, like the creepy waiter that pretty much stalks Beth and Nick. There are scenes that were funny, like when Beth and all the guys try to fit everyone in the little yellow car, that is one of the best scenes in the movie. Other than a few pointless scenes, this movie was fantastic, it was surprisingly witty and it describes something that almost everyone understands. It is very easy to connect to this movie because at some point everyone feels like they aren’t truly loved.
