The action hero with the iron suit returns in the sequel to the movie that flooded theaters–Iron Man. After a two-year wait, fans got to see their favorite hero back in action in ‘Iron Man 2.’ In ‘Iron Man 2,’ Tony Stark faces a few more problems than people trying to steal his suit, although that still is one problem that he faces.
‘Iron Man 2′ starts off with a scene in Russia, where a man finds the schematics to build an arc reactor like Tony built. The movie jumps back into the life of Tony where he is America’s favorite person. Although he is a hero and the world loves him, he faces problems with the government. The Senate is trying to get Tony to hand over his suite, and at the same time Tony is dying. The reactor that keeps him alive is poisoning him. Tony has to reconnect with his father from the past before he faces off against his greatest threat yet.
Tony Stark still has his cocky, know-it-all, humorous attitude that’s fun to watch, thanks to actor Robert Downey, Jr. A few new members that were added to the cast did a great job as well. Don Cheadle replaces Terrance Howard as Stark’s friend in the Air Force, Lt. Colonel James Rhodes. Jon Favreau steps in as Stark’s funny new body guard. Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke play the movie’s not so good guy and not good guy. Overall the cast does a good job.
The elements in ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2′ are similar. The special effects and fighting scenes that blew everyone away come back to please everyone again. Anyone that hasn’t seen the first ‘Iron Man’ is in for a treat. ‘Iron Man’ was always able to make everyone look pretty realistic. Although everyone knows that animations were used, it’s not very apparent which makes the movie even better.
‘Iron Man 2′ brings viewers a little closer to the personal side of Tony Stark. He gets close to hitting rock bottom, believing that he is soon going to die, until members from the S.H.E.I.L.D. organization get him back on track.
‘Iron Man 2′ rocked box offices and almost matched ‘The Dark Knight’ on opening night sales. The movie definitely backs it though and doesn’t leave fans disappointed. All movie-goers should go see this movie, and those who don’t go to movies should change habits to see this. ‘Iron Man 2′ ranks as one of the top movies of the year–and it’s only May!
