Within the first scene, the audience finds out the main character has a mom who assumes she’s dead after being five minutes late, a father who would like nothing more than to kill her grandmother and a cousin who stuck his tongue down her throat at her wedding. Oh, and she recently went through a divorce, lost her job at the Macy’s lingerie department six months ago and can’t afford the car that is being towed out in front of her parents’ house. Meet Stephanie Plum (Katherine Heigl), she’s “One for the Money.” How’s that for an exposition, huh?

After finally announcing her release from Macy’s to her family, Stephanie must let go of the little dignity she still grasps onto and accept a job at her cousin Vinnie’s bail-bond business. She quickly fights for her first assignment: bringing in Joe Morelli (Jason O’Mara), a cop suspected of killing an unarmed man and a romantic fling from Plum’s past.

After finally snatching up the case, she goes out looking for revenge. However, she finds she may have gotten more than she bargained for as she gets caught in a game of one-upping each other with Morelli. On top of that, she comes to realize that Morelli might be the least of her worries in his case as her hunt to bring him in lands her resources in trouble.

But don’t get those hopes up about a fast-paced thriller. Though classified as action, the film lacks much active dash or eye-opening violence. And the romance doesn’t make it much further than the ashes of Plum and Morelli’s unresolved short burst from the past until the closing scene. However, the film does set the mood for some laughs.

Much like how fans say the characters busted the seams of the book, they are overflowing with life and busting off the screen, while busting up the viewer’s gut, too. While Heigl and O’Mara do a decent job of filling their roles and interacting with their added chemical attraction, Sherri Sheperd and Ryan Michelle Bathe as strippers Lula and Jackie, as well as Debbie Reynolds as Grandma Mazur, truly lead this film. They surely are a riot.

“One for the Money” is one of those films that doesn’t live up to the print. It will most likely leave fans of the book disappointed, but it is an enjoyable two-hour excursion for those who have not placed their hands on Janet Evanovich’s original. Only time will tell if Evanovich’s additional tales will follow this one onto the screen.

“Happy Feet Two” directed by George Miller which is the sequel to “Happy Feet” has so far made $43,755,357.00 since it came out in late Nov. of 2011. This new 3D film is in the top 3 of Yahoo’s Weekend Box Office Charts.

“Happy Feet Two” starts out with foot tapping, head bobbing music and intelligent penguins dancing around. Mumble(voiced by Elijah Wood) who is married to his childhood crush Gloria (voiced by Pink), and now has a son Erik (voiced by Ava Acres) has started a new life of dancing around like he has done for many years before.

Like his father, Erik is struggling to fit in with his peers around him. Erik is unable to learn to dance like the penguins around him and seeks to find people more like him.

Both “Happy Feet” movies not only show ways to build character in children but also disasters within the animal kingdom going on around the world. In the first “Happy Feet” movie the problem was the shortage of food available for the penguins and the other animals around the world. In “Happy Feet Two” the problem is the rapidly melting ice and icebergs that are causing problems for not only the penguins but for other animals like elephant seals and whales which are periodically included in the movie.

A bird who claims to be a flying penguin comes into the story, and when Erik discovers him, he wants to fly instead of dance. Of course this is impossible, but Erik doesn’t know that and still strives to reach his goal. When a huge glacier traps the a penguin species in a small area with no real way to get out, the flying penguin The Mighty Sven (voiced by Hank Azaria) offers to have his loyal group of penguins to help give food to the trapped penguins while Erick, Mumble and a few other penguins find a way to help their species get out alive.

In the end the Mumble figures out a way to get his penguin species out and The Mighty Sven tells everyone that he is a hoax and he is in all actuality not a penguin. “Happy Feet Two” teaches kids to keep trying and everyone is meant to be different. Erik eventually finds a way to fit in with all of the other penguin kids.

“Happy Feet Two” teaches kids many lessons in an entertaining way, although this movie was meant for kids, there were also adults in the theatres who said that they appreciated the lessons within the movie. Overall, this movie deserves four stars because of the incredible on screen productions, the use of three technology, and a good story line for children, the efforts to bring the environmental issues into a movie in an entertaining way for children and adults.

After a three year wait, fans of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series were excited to go see the newest movie in the series “Breaking Dawn.” Many people who went to see this movie were people who had also read the book.

While many books are far better than the movies that follow them, this book would not be put in that category. This movie portrayed the book almost perfectly, with few mistakes. Director Billy Condon did far better than the previous directors and about 20 times better than Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first movie in this series, who did a completely terrible job with the movie.

The make up artists in this movie were also a very high point. In the first movie, Bella seemed to be paler than any of the vampires while the vampires should have been way lighter in complexion.

The special effects in this movie were also amazing. The wolf pack turning from human to wolves in this movie was way more realistic looking than in the second one. Seeing this movie in theaters almost made viewers feel as if they were in the movie every time there was any kind of action scene.

For people that did not read the books that came before this series might find themselves a little lost during some parts because of the flow or the whole thing, but people that read the books find the movie to be at a slower pace than it could have been.

In this movie, Edward and Bella have this huge, fantastic wedding and go on this long, luxurious honeymoon in Brazil. The romance scenes in this movie top all of the rest of the scenes. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson seem to have the perfect body language for lovers. It almost seems like they could have been lovers in real life.

There is a lot of humor in this movie to make it funnier and more enjoyable for viewers. This movie might not be appropriate for children under the age of 13.

There are many loved actors in this movie including teenage heartthrob Taylor Lautner. Lautner’s character is starting to show a lot more maturity in “Breaking Dawn” by beginning to get along with the vampires a little bit better and helping them out.

Fans of the “Twilight” series have been awaiting the beginning of the end for three years and now have to begin to wait another year for the final part of “Breaking Dawn” that comes out next Fall.

Director Roland Emmerich’s “Anonymous” hit theatres, striving to make a startling statement to its audience. However, the unsuspecting audience did not receive just one startling statement, but several startling statements wrapped up in one big marvelously awful package.

Originally aiming to theorize the possibility of Shakespeare being a fraud, the film decides to not only count its eggs before they’ve hatched, but designate the unhatched chickens to owners, too. And why not just create more shocking layers when boundaries have already been crossed?

Throughout the movie, the viewer can almost see the writer thinking “Well, this theory is already bound to shock, why stop now? Let’s add some more mind blowing theories to this one and call it good.” Bam, just like that the viewer sees exactly why so many people commonly use the quotes “stop while you’re ahead” and “less is more.”

The theories provoke thought, but not a serious level of thinking as most likely intended. Though the theories fit quite well with each other and with events of this time period, the accumulation of all of them together creates a too far fetched appearance for the audience to take seriously.

Ask viewers to accept one ridiculous conspiracy theory, and a few may think on it for a second. But ask them to question the validity of several intertwining conspiracies and the viewers will leave the theatre confused by the idiocracy and questioning the mess created by the many points being made rather than the truth of the points.

Insanity is creativity, when used sparingly, but when used incorrectly it’s simply insanity at its worst. Plainly said, the film’s plot reaches for too much. The film itself, however, contains several outstanding aspects.

The film succeeds wonderfully with the use of makeup. When viewers of a Harry Potter crazed world don’t even realize that once Professor Lupin is now staging as nearly dead Lord William Cecil (David Thewlis), and Queen Elizabeth I’s (Vanessa Redgrave) teeth appear as if a toothbrush has never touched them, clearly the right makeup artist has been found.

The film also nails it with the astonishing sets. Right down to the muddy walkways in between the small, crowded shops and the boards laid down as the “roads” to walk on, the setting paints a perfect picture of the time for the viewer.

The same goes for the costumes, with the rich downed in puffy dresses, massive hair buns and an excessive amount of powder. The poor also appear perfectly, dressed in ratty rags, stray hair-dos and dirty faces. Another small and simple, but important perfection is the constant presence of dry ink consuming the tips of Edward de Vere’s (Rhys Ifans) fingers. The glitz and the glam, as well as the grit and the grime of the era are mirrored to absolute detail.

The attention to such small details of the time period adds to the appreciation and the dazzle of this film. The audience can revel in the enjoyment of the realism presented throughout the scenes.

Viewers lacking the willingness to sit through over two hours of a hard-to-follow plot of intellectual mess will find “Anonymous” confusing and quite possibly boring, but those who find themselves yearning for more films of this class may find it intriguing and appreciate it for all that it is.

Any who viewed the opening of “The Rum Diary” can gladly hold on to the joy of knowing they were amongst the single most laughter-filled room within theatres this past weekend. Director Bruce Robinson’s film strummed with original humor and odd characters, with the cherry on top being the additional top-notch acting paired with these outlandish characters.Based off Hunter S. Thompson’s novel, the storyline doesn’t make it a great film; the storyline itself is a guessable one, with no twists or turns, intrigue or grandeur. However, despite having one of those “been there, done that” plots in which the main character makes the difficult but right choice and gets the girl in the end, the visual picture is pleasantly easy-going and entertaining – with all thanks due to the characters and the actors filling the roles. From a scandalous pirate, to a hopeless romantic, actor Johnny Depp has no trouble transforming into something he’s not, and his role in “The Rum Diary” is no exception. He does a fine job posing as Kemp, an unsuccessful author gone journalist who drinks like a fish, but the most memorable character is filled by one of Depp’s supporting actors.Actor Giovanni Ribisi brings his already phenomenal character to the next level, making him stand out in the viewer’s mind more than any other character. Much like with his performance as Buddy in “The Gift,” Ribisi does so chillingly well as Moburg that he literally leaves the audience with their jaws dropped.Although Ribisi plays a rather unlikable person, with all of his ratty clothes and neurotic characteristics, his character is ironically the most enjoyable one. It seems he does best when playing someone who isn’t quite all mentally there, possibly explaining why this role is so easy to revel in.Unfortunately for Captain Jack Sparrow, Ribisi’s role overshadows his, despite Depp taking the lead role. But perhaps this will allow for more opportunities for Ribisi’s career, which in turn may fortunately produce more intriguing characters for viewers to add to their book of favorites.

While this movie may be a recommendable one, it is not suited for everyone. It definitely claims an “R” rating for a reason. While the young adult population may find the sexual innuendos, foul language and drug content humorous, the older populace may find it offensive and highly inappropriate for younger viewers. Perhaps this is the case, but nonetheless, Robinson struck just right in the market with “The Rum Diary” having such a strong appeal to the younger generations.

Paranormal Activity 3 creeped into theatres on October 21. This prequel continues the series by giving the viewer insight into what started it all. It’s the beginning of the end.Ever wonder how exactly Katie and Kristie became so unfortunate? The answer lies in the depths of this shockingly realistic horror film. The movie begins by showing a scene filmed by Daniel with a pregnant Kristi painting the future child’s room. Her sister, Katie, then shows up at their new house with a bunch of boxes that she wants put in their basement. The boxes contain old video tapes of the sisters’ childhood. Before they could get a chance to view the tapes, their house is robbed and only the boxes of tapes came up missing.

Immediately after this scene, the movie snaps back about 18 years to the sisters’ childhood. Here it becomes evident that the viewer gets to see what Katie and Kristi don’t. It starts with video of Katie’s eighth birthday party that introduces their mother, Julie. All of the past footage is filmed by Julie’s boyfriend, Dennis, who at the time runs a wedding video taping business in their garage.

Soon the viewer notices that Kristi has an imaginary friend named Toby who she takes very seriously. After an ominous earthquake that Dennis captures on tape, a series of strange and horrific events begin in the household. The first one Dennis notices in the earthquake tape. He sees dust fall from the ceiling and land suspended in mid-air as if it landed on someone. That someone quickly shakes the dust off and a figure becomes apparent for a few seconds.

This baffles Dennis and to capture more events like this one, he sets up cameras around the house. Dennis makes it his goal to figure out what causes the strange happenings and becomes obsessed to a point that irritates Julie and creates tension amongst the family members.

Scene by scene, the paranormal activity in the house increases and becomes more violent. A babysitter gets scared to the point of speechlessness and never returns. Toby actually attacks Katie at one point in the movie and upsets Kristi. Kristi makes it obvious that she no longer wants to speak to Toby and in turn he unleashes his wrath. A harmless game of Bloody Mary only makes things worse and creates more feelings of fear amongst the family members.

Julie, however, remains skeptical throughout the events because she has yet to witness one for herself. This changes in a chilling scene where Julie watches her entire kitchen fall from the ceiling above. Instantly, they high-tail it out of there and seek shelter in Julie’s mother’s house.

In Grandma’s house, the movie comes to a terrifying end that will shock and horrify everyone that watches. It turns out that Grandma dabbles in the dark arts of Demonology and belongs to a cult.

Paranormal Activity 3 certainly makes out to be the scariest and funniest movies of the series. It will make viewers scream and laugh in that order. Whether it’s watched alone or with a bunch of friends, it will make anyone who has seen it have a very troubled night of sleep.

Movie goers were pleasantly surprised with the release of the 2011 version of “Footloose.” Director Craig Brewer did the seemingly impossible by remaking a fantastic classic from 1984. Using the brand new actor, Kenny Wormald, as the main character in this movie was a risky move for Brewer. Wormald smoothly pulled off the role of Ren MacCormack, the new boy in town.

As many people already know, “Footloose” is a story about a town in which public dancing, loud music, and unsupervised parties have been outlawed. When a new boy moves to town because of a family tragedy, the whole town gets turned upside down and seems to run off of its normal track. The young man challenges the city council by trying to get public dancing legal again.

The town turned against dancing three years before when five teenagers were driving home from a dance and lost control of their car. The teenagers ran off a bridge and all five were killed. This caused the leaders of the town to blame everything bad that happened in the town on dancing and loud music.

Although the storyline and a majority of the lines in this movie were similar or exact to the original, there were some alterations that turned out to make the movie and humor the audience. Some of the alterations made the movie more touching and a lot more emotional than the first one. One of the significant changes from the first movie is that instead of Ren and his mom moving to Bomont, just Ren moved to Bomont after his mom slowly and painfully died from leukemia.

After Ren’s mom got sick, Ren’s father moved out because he didn’t want to take care of her. That left Ren’s mom to be in the sole care of Ren.

The people in the town think that Ren knows nothing about the grief they went through when the teenagers died, but he shows them that he knows grief and that they shouldn’t let that grief take over their lives and stop them from living.

While some do not believe that this version topped the classic, many people also believe that this version did not at all ruin the first version. This version was touching, humorous and overall just a great movie.

Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. did an amazing job creating suspense and spine-chilling scenes in “The Thing”.

“The Thing” starts out with Kate Llyod (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) a Paleontologist is asked to take a trip to Antarctica. Dr. Sander Halvorsen (Ulrich Thomsen) has made a miraculous discovery of an ancient alien space ship. Dr. Halvoersen has requested Lloyd to dig up the alien that was found along with the ship. Lloyd agrees to dig up this mysterious find.

Lloyd goes to Antarctica to dig up the alien; Dr. Halvorsen decides it is very important to break through the block of ice and take a sample from the alien . This obviously wasn’t a great idea, as the alien broke out of the block of ice. Little did the team know that this alien was a man-eating alien, who proved to be a great danger to them in their remote area.

When the team of Norwegians find out that the alien is loose, they organize small search groups among themselves to find the creature. During the search a man is eaten by the alien. Soon the team finds out that the only way to kill the alien is to burn it. They burn the alien to a crisp and assume the alien is dead. Little did they know that the alien has complex atoms that can duplicate a humans DNA and “clone” themselves as the human in the original body to attack other humans.

The alien continues to clone itself into various characters in the movie eventually killing a large portion of the small group. The thought and creativity put into the story line to keep viewers interested was amazing . During the movie, many exciting and gruesome events occurred to keep people in the theater entertained.

There was some gore involved in this action packed thriller, but not enough to make it all about blood. The dynamic characters were prodigious in their roles. Just like any movie there were some slow parts, but were quickly overpowered by, smart, man-eating aliens and blow torches to fend them off.

The characters that were chosen for this film were great assets to the movie in many ways. By having a dominant women role, viewers were able to see many different perspectives on the situation at hand. Many of the male roles in the movie thought that they were in complete control of the situation, but, Lloyd knew the aliens true secrets and was then able to take control by making sure whom was really human and whom the alien in disguise was.

“The Thing” deserves four and a halfstars overall for its unique, stirring story line and character depth. This film is definitely worth watching, when viewers want to watch a sensational gory and mysterious film. Its no wonder that “The Thing” has been rated the top third on the Weekend Box Office Charts, with a whopping 8.49 million in the first week.

“Real Steel,” directed by Shawn Levy, takes place in the near future, where robot fighting is a popular sport. Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) plays a man who buys expensive robots every chance that he gets. He lives a life of cat and mouse, running from people which of whom he owes money to. Robot fighting has become a popular sport and also an obsession of Kenton’s.

Later, he discovers that he has an 11-year old son, Max Kenton (Dakota Goyo). When the mother of his son dies, he must decide whether he would like to be the sole guardian of Max or hand over guardianship to Aunt Debra (Hope Davis).

Aunt Debra is married to a wealthy man, which Kenton soon discovers. He takes advantage of their meeting, and begins to bribe Aunt Debra’s husband to give him money in exchange for guardianship of Max. Kenton’s cunning and manipulating words win him the deal. Unfortunately, Kenton has to take care of Max while Aunt Debra and her husband vacation in Italy for the summer.

With the money that Kenton receives, he buys a world famous robot in hopes of winning more money. Kenton and Max soon enter a robot exhibition match against another tough robot. Kenton’s new robot gets smashed in the fight and becomes unusable.

I really didn’t understand the point of Kenton wasting all of the money he gets on new Robots. He is definitely an irresponsible man.

The turning point of the movie comes when Kenton and Max go to a robot junk yard to steal parts to make a new robot. Max then falls off of a cliff and he ends up being saved by what he thinks to be a scrap robot arm sticking out of the side of a mountain of rubble. Max showed his gratefulness by digging up the robot that saved his life.

After several scenes of Max fixing his antique robot named Atom, he is determined to enter in a robot boxing match. Little does Max know that Atom can understand people and mimic their movements. Atom wins his first fight and goes on to win many more.

Kenton is able to dig up loads of money from Atom winning many fights. Max and Kenton begin to bond more and more over the course of the movie. Later, Atom is entered in a fight against the greatest fighting robot, Zues. After countless rounds of the greatest robot fighting match ever seen, Kenton, Max and Atom are able to figure out a way around Zues’ dynamic technology and miraculously wins the fight.

The film showed a great bond between father and son getting to know each other after a troubled past. It was really great to see many children with their parents in the movie, enjoying the message of the movie together.

“Real Steel” displayed many great special and visual effects throughout the entire course of the film. The movie is aimed right at kids and families with its storyline bond between Kenton and Max, even though it is a little violent. The characters were correctly chosen for this film with their ability to give the movie depth and creativeness. Overall “Real Steel” deserves 4 out of 5 stars for its amazing graphics and action-packed family storyline.

Why not drop the big, dirty bomb right away? Well, it’s not what Director George Clooney did, but a round of applause is in order for him and his “The Ides of March,” anyway, for making the audience ask “Did he really just do that?” Why yes, yes he did.

Though the title acts as an assailant in the foreshadowing of a less-than-bright-and-shiny day (for those who pick up on the allusion), it doesn’t give too much away as far as the extent of gloom goes. Of course, most viewers probably saw the trailer or read the film synopsis beforehand. However, as one of those viewers, knowing the basis of the story isn’t as satisfying as seeing it played out on the screen.

“The Ides” features Stephen Meyers (Ryan Gosling) and Paul Zara (Phillip Seymour Hoffman), presidential campaign press secretaries for Governor Mike Morris (George Clooney). While facing a tough presidential primary in Ohio on which the running relies, Meyers quickly gets snagged into a scandal surrounding his candidate.

Well ladies, the “Ides of March” Gosling isn’t that charming hunk you found in Mr. “Notebook” Noah and fell in love with. Yeah, he seems like that same young man of morals at the beginning, with his heartfelt support for Morris and the betterment this governor’s expected to bring, but this film perfectly portrays the depressingly corrupt world of politics, proving they’ll spoil even the cleanest of the clean. As the politician timeline has proven, get involved in politics and Oxiclean won’t even be able to save you.

Although this has become the norm of society, it’s one thing to hear about it and another to see it played out in-depth, especially when it’s dropped like a bombshell enforced from all sides by believable roles and plot lines and dirty, dirty motives and actions. It’s no wonder media and politics are viewed as so scandalous when so many people allow the hunger of power to eat them up, as these characters do.

While this movie had its rather predictable times, the risk it accepted by taking on not only a controversial story, but one bound to heat up both political parties definitely outvotes any average aspect that can be tacked onto the film. In addition, Clooney pushes his luck with a cliff-hanger ending in which the viewer must decide Meyers’ next move. Surprisingly, it doesn’t leave the audience feeling unsatisfied, but gives the little piece of satisfaction that maybe there’s a little hope out there for politicians to have good judgment, and sending out a larger message of hope for mankind as a whole.

“Ides” is one tasty treat that’s definitely worth giving up the power and allowing the intake of dirty enjoyment to swell in its place. So why not save yourself the trouble of being in control just for this moment and let Gosling take the fall instead? I promise, it’ll be a much more fulfilling experience.
