As of Mar. 22, all BHS seniors will only have one quarter remaining with Belton. With less than forty days of high school left, students are getting anxious for it all to end. However, there are still many major events which require planning before the senior’s time with BHS is up. Important events to plan for include Prom, graduation ceremonies and final award ceremonies/festivities.

With graduation just around the corner, it is important for seniors to make sure all loose ends are tied up.  Seniors in the A+ program should check up with A+ Director Marla Elliston in order to ensure that their hours have been served. Students in NHS also need to make sure all dues have been turned in along with having ten hours of community service. NHS students can check with Club Leaders Lee Winslow and Amy Kelly for more information.

Seniors also need to check to make sure at least 26 credits will have been earned by the end of the semester. Students without 26 credits by May 15 will not be allowed to graduate.  For more information, students can check with Counselor Diana Johnson.  Furthermore, any students with outstanding fines (ex. library books) or attendance hours will not be permitted to receive a diploma.

Graduation isn’t all stress though, the school district has planned many events for seniors between the last day of school and graduation. May 13 is the Senior Breakfast and the Senior Picnic. Seniors will also receive the 2010 Beltonian Yearbook the next day and be allowed to attend a signing party in the lower gym.

Graduation is May 15, in the Community of Auditorium at Liberty, MO. Students who want to carry the class flower, the Japanese Iris, during graduation need to make arrangements with Art Teacher Karen Berger. After the graduation ceremony, Belton Cares has organized Project Graduation once again this year. Project Graduation will be at the Harrisonville Community Center and will provide a safe and fun environment for students to celebrate in.
