Quarter extension pleases students

An extended third quarter is an all around advantage for students. The extended week added to the quarter will give teachers more time to teach their students the curriculum needed so they can be successful in the long run,and students will have more time to work on getting their grades higher–or wherever they want their grades to be before the quarter ends.

Since there was a shortage of days in third quarter because of snow days, the district decided to extend the quarter one week longer than it was originally planned on being. With this extension, teachers can now teach their students what they need to know before the end of course testings come and before the seniors graduate and go off to college. Teachers now do not need to rush to teach their students the things that were planned to be taught while we had snow. It also gives teachers more time to focus on helping their students with the things that may be difficult for them to understand.

An extended week also gives students time to turn in missing work or late assignments that they have in order to raise their grades. Students will now have more time to study the subjects that they need to study and know in order to do well this year. Some students may not like the week that is added to the quarter because they feel that their grades are high enough so they feel the extra week is not needed.

Seniors on the other hand may not like the extra week that is added to the quarter. For most seniors, all the focus is on getting out of high school and going off to college with the education that they received in high school. In reality, seniors are also included in the students that could use the extra week as a time to raise their grades or get help on subjects they do not understand before they go off to college. In college, they may not get as much help as they did in high school. Seniors may not like the extended quarter because they feel like they know what they need to know to be successful in college. Some students on the other hand, need as much help from their teachers as they can get in order to be successful in college.
