Senior prank not funny

On the road to graduation and even to senior year itself, students often hear of the exciting things to look forward to. Taking the last test in their high school career, walking across the stage at graduation, receiving a diploma and even senior pranks. The funny, the lame and sometimes even the most infamous pranks are pulled at the end of each year and has become a tradition.

Just like any other practical joke the purpose is the ‘wow factor’ and or an attempt to pull off a truly amusing joke. However with each passing year the pranks seem to become more and more dangerous. Last year’s senior prank seemed to be mildly amusing to some but it still had a high risk of injury to those unsuspecting students.

This year’s prank may have reached that infamous ‘wow factor’ that they strived for but the thought of how things may have went wrong may have slipped the minds of those who planned the prank. Ridding two dirt bikes down the small senior hallway on the senior’s last day was a prank nothing short of shocking.

Students in classes in that hallway that didn’t know what was going on had no idea what to think when they heard the first revs of the bikes’ engine. Walking out to the hallway to figure out what was going on, they found a dirt bike doing a wheelie down the hall and a second one following in the first bike after hitting and denting a locker.

The amazement of the bikes in the halls quickly dissipated with the sight of the close call between one of the bikes and a girl that had no clue what was happening. This year’s pranksters followed well trodden path of the seniors before them. They managed to plan and pull off a prank that met a high ‘wow factor’ and dangerous at the same time. Only this time the danger level was much greater had the prank gone wrong.

Talk among the student is that one of the people on the dirt bike said that ridding in the halls was like ridding on ice. That was apparent when the second bike came around the corner and skidded into a locker and nearly lost completely control of the bike. Had either one of those bike riders lost control of their bike they could have taken out a couple of the numerous students lining the halls.

To plan and go through with this prank it took great audacity. The supposed glory surrounding that prank wasn’t worth the potential danger they placed their fellow students. No senior prank is worth the expense of the student’s safety and cannot be considered a great prank when it was something that recluse. This senior prank won’t soon be forgotten, which some may say they accomplished their goal, but just how smart it actually was is shown when someone proposes the next senior class shirt say ‘Class of 2011 we’re not that stupid’ with a dirt bike on the front.
