In their second home dual match Sept. 2, the Varsity Girls Tennis team faced off against the North Kansas City team. The team first played a singles pro-ten game, and then moved on to play a doubles pro-ten.

Coach Liz Hunsaker said they played competitively throughout the matches.  The 9-0 loss does not reflect how hard the ladies played.

“Our team did very well,” Hunsaker said. “Although the scores don’t reflect it, they played well.”

In a pro-ten game, each player plays ten matches, and their score comes from how many games they won out of those ten matches. Junior Bridget Casteneda won four of her ten games in singles. Hunsaker said Casteneda moved all over the court, and played excellently.

Manager Shon Miles offered up some advice to the team.

“I think they have much more potential,” Miles said, “but at this time they are playing their hardest.”

Assistant Coach Andrew Mullen also said something that he hopes will give the team inspiration.

“Since the beginning of the season, strides have been made, matches have been won, and friendships have formed,” Mullen said.
