Softball team starts off with positive record

Varsity softball won three out of five games last week at the Greater Kansas City Tournament.  Belton outscored their opponents with a total score of 17-12.

Kelsey Shifferdecker and Ashley Colbern pitched for a combined 40 strikeouts, 17 hits, 5 walks, and 12 runs through 34 innings.

Desiree Johnson hit .438, going 7 for 16.  Carly Jo Scott hit .571 going 8 for 14 with 3 doubles in tournament play.

Belton lost their first game to Lee’s Summit North 0-4.  Their second loss came against Smithville, where Belton lost 1-4.

Belton held off Odessa in extra innings, winning 5-4 in the eighth.  Belton was able to shut out Oak Grove and St. Joe Central.
