The NBA finals are looking like it will be a battle between two regulars; the Los Angeles Lakers, who have a two game lead over the Phoenix Suns, versus the Boston Celtics, with a three game lead over the Orlando Magic.

The Lakers have been on a tear throughout the 2010 post season. After dropping two away games to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the powerful Lakers team, led by Kobe Bryant, have been flawless. It took the defending champions just four games to beat the Utah Jazz, and are up two games in the Conference Finals against the Suns.

Bryant has averaged a spectacular 27.5 points throughout the post season, shooting 46% from the field. Bryant is accompanied by Pau Gasol, who has averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds in the postseason.

The Lakers team is a force to be reckoned with, and is looking to close out the Suns in the next two games, then head onto the Finals to defend their title.

The Celtics shocked the basketball world after they eliminated the favorite, the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James, in six games.

Boston breezed through the first round against the Miami Heat, in just five games. The Celtics ran into some trouble against the Cavaliers, losing two of the first three games including a humiliating 124-95 loss at home.

The Celtics got a little extra play from point guard Rajon Rondo in game four, when Rondo had a triple-double. Rondo dropped 29 points, 13 assists and 18 rebounds. Boston kept on rolling in game five, handing the Cavaliers an equally embarrassing loss by a score of 120-88 in favor of the Celtics.

Boston faced the Orlando Magic in the Conference Finals, a team who had not lost a single game, entering game one, against the Celtics. Again, the Celtics shocked the basketball world by defeating Orlando in their first three games.

Statistically, a team that is down three games to none in a seven game series had virtually no chance of a comeback, what this means is that the Boston Celtics are almost guaranteed to win the series and move onto the NBA Finals.

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers have a combined total of 32 NBA championships. The two teams have faced each other in the finals eleven times, nine of those meetings were won by the Celtics. If the two do end up in the finals together again, it will renew an already long-standing rivalry, and it will be a hard fought, and exciting series that will attract fans from all over world.
