BHS now has their own crime scene investigators. C.S.I. club, or crime scene investigation club, is the newest and most popular club to come to BHS. The club has was created after a few weeks of school. Science teacher Crystal Alexander is the founder of C.S.I. club.

“There was an overwhelming response from my students when asked what clubs were missing,” Alexander said. “Since I teach science, C.S.I. club was first to come to mind.”

The club will meet once a month from the hours of four to seven. There will be hour-long segments that people can attend to learn a new forensic science. Members will come either four to five, five to six, or six to seven. This is convenient, since the club has over 100 members.

“At each monthly meeting students will learn different forensic sciences such as finger print lifting and analysis, hand writing analysis, blood typing and other crime scene techniques,” Alexander said.

The overall creation of the club was for students that have an interest of a career in forensic science, and the club could possibly become a class.

“If students show an overwhelming response to wanting to learn about forensics then that would help in us trying to get the ABC applied bio and chem class approved,” Alexander said.

Science teacher Amy Kelley is the co-sponsor who helped get students excited about the club and will also help teach the forensic techniques. Many students were encouraged to join, and the club quickly became it the largest in BHS. Senior Melissa Barnes said it sounded cool and that’s why she joined it.

“I am most excited about the idea of D.N.A. Analysis,” Barnes said.

Students joined for many reasons; some because there friends are in there, others because they like science, but joined for no reason. Sophomore Chloe Jackson said she didn’t know why she joined.

“I don’t know,” Jackson said. “I like solving mysteries I guess.”

Alexander said that anyone who wants to join the club or who needs a sticker for the club needs to come by her room, by Monday the 28th, which is  the date of their first meeting. Alexander’s room is room 503.
