Feb. 25 was Career Day at BHS. Many different colleges and companies came and represented their business. Each of the classes took turns visiting the stands. It was a good opportunity for juniors and sophomores to find out what they are interested in, and what their work day looks like.
Avila University had an interesting table with information about their campus, classes and the application process. The Belton Fire and Police Department even had booths set up. The police department brought a radar gun with them so the students could see how they know when somebody is speeding or not. Another outstanding representative was the Kansas City Zoo who brought different stuffed animals and explained a lot about the different jobs.
There are a lot of different opinions on the carrier day wheter it is good or not.
“I don’t know what I think about the career day for seniors.” Senior Kameron Yadon said,” It’s basically too late because we already know what we are doing.”
Other representatives were: Country Club Bank, Crowder College, MO Career Center, Devry University, Holiday Inn Express Hotel from Granview, House of Healvin, Job Corps, Johnson Community Center and Longview Automotive. Also, the US Navy, the US Army and the US Marines were here trying to let the students know what they are doing in their jobs.
Unfortunately, The Kansas City Star and The Star Herald were not in the gym when the seniors arrived and they were disappointed; a lot of students were interested in this career.
Junior Rebecca Jordan said, “I really liked this day, I think I got kind of a idea what I wanna do later and where I wanna go.”
The following Colleges and businesses were representing as well: Keller Williams, Missouri State Highway Control, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Park University, Pinnacle Career Institute, Premier Designs Jewlery, Pro Turf Lawn Service, Research Belton Hospital, and University of Central Missouri. Every table had a lot of information and things to take with you to take home. All in all, it was a really informative day for all students.
