Pops is a major event for students involved in choir. It’s an event that not only shows the progress the students have made through out the year, but also allows some students to perform solos. Friday May 7, was performance day and the room was full of family, friends and classmates. Some audience members were even left standing due to lack of open seats.
Choir teacher Brian Stuck said it was the fullest he had seen it in a long time.
Each year pops is based on a different theme. This year’s was Time Warp. Putting on a bit of a skit through the performance was Senior Dylan Corlee, who was portraying the genius who made the time machine, and Junior Andi Replogale who played as his maid and time traveled with him.
As the performance progressed, Replogale and Corlee traveled through different time and stages of music.
Solo performances were done by Sophomore Abraham Vazquez, who sang his song in Spanish, Senior Micah Willard, who sang and played the piano to the song ‘Georgia’, Senior Kayla Peters and Senior Allysa Sapp along with others.
Technical difficulties left Sapp on a silent stage waiting for her music. Corlee and Replogale put their thespian skills into play though and brought entertainment back to the stage until the CD was fixed.
A favorite among many students was their Michal Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ performance. Most of the performers went all out with make-up, styled hair and costumes.
Many of the group girl performances were no where near ‘professional’, as they laughed and often bumped into each other on accident while dancing; but considering they are students and were having fun, in can be debated that this was not a problem. The performances where all greatly done and entertaining and the choir students enjoyed performing which made viewing it that much better.
