As the school year comes to a glorious end, the BHS band decided on the new leaders for next year. They elected president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, senior class representative, and junior Class Representative. They start off by having members of the band nominate people they think would so well, then the band members vote on the nominees. The whole purpose of the band council is to hopefully make the band better.

The band council is incorporated with band boosters which is set up to help raise money and to organize activities. In the past years, band boosters has dwindled to a few people. With the help of the band members and the newly elected band council, hopefully that will change. This years band council is a responsible and strong group of people. The newly elected President is sophomore Kasea Price, the vice president is sophomore Austin Curnutt, treasurer is Kathryn Waugh, secretary is Miranda Bruner, senior class representative is junior Abi Brock, and junior class representative is Obbie Willis.

Sophomore Kasea Price said that she hopes that the band can work on dedication and that she feels confident about being president of the band council.

“I feel great about being president and I told Mr. Sullivan my ideas and now I get to enforce them and being a role model is a really great feeling,” Price said. “I want to work on the dedication of the band if we want the band to be better and the band should be a priority.”

Almost every leader needs a strong person to stand beside them. It is always important to have a responsible person to help out. For everything to run smoothly, a whole group of good people is needed to help out.

Sophomore Austin Curnutt said that he is excited to be vice president of the band council.

“I like being vice president because I get to help Kasea and enforce her decisions because she is a good leader,” Curnutt said.

However, it doesn’t matter how good the leader is if there is no one to follow them. The band council President and Vice President is important, but the band members have to be willing to listen and follow what they say. The band has to feel comfortable with their newly elected leaders.

Sophomore Tim Rodden said that he is confident in the new people elected to band council.

“They seem very capable of handling all sorts of situations that go along with band,” Rodden said.

As next year goes on the new band council will have a chance to prove what they can do to improve the attitude of the band. They will get to prove to their peers how much they care about the band and the people involved in it.
